Norwegian Fjord Cruises

Norway is a country that is sometimes pushed towards the bottom of the list when it comes to cruises. That is at least until one visits the Norwegian Fjord Cruises and finds out about the Norwegian Costal Voyage. Once you set sail on a Hurtigruten vessel, you become a part of history itself. You get to travel along a route that has been such for over 110 years. While traveling along this rugged water trail you will get to witness the majestic Norwegian coastline that is a haven to much wildlife. One of the few untouched places left on earth.

The intriguing aspect of the Norwegian Fjord cruises is you get to go to ports that are not on the average cruise lines itinerary. The ports of call you will have the pleasure of visiting are not hustling and bustling with travelers but are caught up in the villages normal daily livings. The majority of them are tiny hamlets tucked away in various islands along the Norwegian coast.

The ships themselves are a treat in itself.  They all boast of large lounges where one can truly sit back and enjoy every aspect of the view that is to be found on this coastline. The Hurtigruten vessels are decked out in stunning decor that is only fitting for a voyage such as this.

One would thing that a cruise as exquisite as this would be bursting with formality, but it is the very opposite. There is no stuffy dress code for meals, and there are open seating buffets for breakfast and lunch.  There is no concern for language barriers as the crew is multi lingual that is well appreciated when participating in land excursions.

Often when one is cruising on one of the big cruise lines, they are designed like Hotels and it is easy to forget Norwegian fjordsthat you are actually on board a ship. It is easy to forget about part of the intrigue of sailing. This does not happen on the Hurtigruten. Although every bit as comfortable as the larger cruise lines, the cabins are shaped and built as one would expect accommodation at sea to be really like. This adds to the ambience of a real cruise aboard a floating vessel.

One of the hardest decisions to make is at what time of year is best to take a Hurtigruten cruise. The Norwegian coastal line changes so dramatically with the seasons that you will think you have never visited before if you go at different seasons.

If the days never seem long enough for you then you must travel this cruise to at least hit a day where the sun does not set. You actually have 24 hours of light if you can stay awake that long. Then on the other hand if you wait for a winter cruise you are sure to see the Northern lights which is spectacular view in itself. WhNorwegian Fjordsat we have talked about here are just a few of the highlights of a Norwegian coastline cruise that is out of the normal atmosphere of daily life. Its event like this that makes this cruise well worth every penny you spend on it.
